The Tynor Medical Compression Stocking Class 2 (Below Knee) gives your lower leg graduated compression: the pressure is firmest at the ankle and becomes gentler as the stocking rises to just under the knee. It is knitted from nylon and elastane, shaped to follow the leg, and has a closed heel with an open toe. Class 2 medical stockings are a firmer grade, so choose and wear them on your doctor’s advice.
Key benefits
- Graduated compression, firmest at the ankle and gradually lighter up to the knee.
- Nylon and elastane knit hugs the leg evenly and is made from strong, high-denier yarn.
- Shaped to follow the natural contours of the leg, so it stays where you put it as you move.
- Closed heel helps you line the stocking up correctly, while the open toe leaves your toes free.
Features
- Graduated compression: Pressure steps down from the ankle towards the knee, as set out on Tynor’s measuring chart.
- High-denier yarns: Strong nylon fibres give a firm, durable knit for regular wear.
- Elastane content: Spandex in the knit gives a snug, comfortable fit that stretches with your leg.
- Anatomical design: Contoured for legs that are not evenly round, so the compression is spread as intended.
- Closed heel, open toe: The heel pocket makes positioning easier and the open toe keeps the foot end comfortable.
- Soft, breathable fabric: Feels soft against the skin when you wear the stockings for long stretches.
Commonly used for
Class 2 stockings are firmer than everyday support hosiery. They are often used, on a doctor’s advice, for varicose veins, and by people whose work or routine keeps them standing for long hours and who get tired, heavy legs. Your doctor can tell you whether Class 2 compression and a below-knee length suit you, so wear them only as advised by your doctor.
How to choose your size
Use a soft measuring tape and note these measurements in centimetres, at the points marked on Tynor’s chart:
- B: around the ankle.
- C: around the widest part of the calf.
- D: around the leg, two fingers’ width below the kneecap.
- Length from the floor up to point D. Tynor’s chart gives 37 to 45 cm for the below-knee stocking.
Choose the size whose ranges match your B, C and D measurements. All figures are in centimetres.
